A baby was reunited with her parents on Monday night after she was left in the back seat of a vehicle that was stolen from a parking lot in southeast Edmonton.
Police said the child’s parents had left the vehicle running with the baby inside while the two were shopping inside a Value Village.
Edmonton police said officers spotted the vehicle and stopped the driver about 10 minutes after the SUV was first reported missing.
The child was reunited with her parents and the suspect was detained.
Police said the situation “could have been very tragic,” and added that the parents learned the hard way to never leave children alone inside a vehicle.
Police have not yet laid any charges in the case.
