This past week has been a tough one for the Kindersley Klippers as they travelled to the southwestern part of Saskatchewan to play in back-to-back season games against Melville and Yorkton.

Evenly matched with their opponents, three out of the four games played found the Klippers battling fiercely in overtime.

Starting the four-game run on February 14th, the night was anything but romantic as Yorkton’s ice saw both teams fighting hard to place each goal. Spinning into overtime, the game was tied at 4-4 until the Terriers rolled the scoreboard into their favor.  The next night found the Melville Millionaires doubling the scoreboard over the Klippers at a 4-2 game, settling the Klippers on their fifth loss after their strong winning streak.

Determined to break the trend, the Klippers made the Terriers work for every goal on Friday night’s game.  Once again rolling into overtime with a 4-4 tie, the Klippers gave the Terriers the slip and pushed the game in their favor; giving the team new vigor for Saturday’s game.  Back at Melville, the Klippers matched every goal the Millionaires made until the overtime ended at 3-2 in Melville’s favor.

After their intense week, the Klippers have a bit of breather before taking on the, until now, invincible Battleford North Stars.  Dropping the puck at 7:30 p.m. at the WECE, the Klippers “rain-check” game promises high-action moments; come on down to cheer the team on!

The results of Saturday’s game followed hard on the heels of the previous two games that week.   Wednesday’s match on the neutral ice of Unity ended with the Klippers routed in a decisive 6-1 game with the Battleford Stars.  Friday, however, found the Klippers on a better footing during an intense game with the Nipawin Hawks. Tied at 3-3 in the third period, it looked as though the Klippers were going to take the ice, but the Hawks tipped the scales in their favour in the last minutes of the game.

The Klippers are too experienced to let the last few games get them down, they are already looking forward to meeting the Battleford Stars once more in a “rain-check” game next Wednesday (February 22). The puck drop at 7:30 p.m. in the WCEC, come on down for an exciting night!
