Bowling Season Wraps Up

Well, last night, bowling officially wrapped up for the season at the Kindersley Bowl-A-Drome.

The league, formerly known as NHBL (National Hockey Bowling League) was conceived by the past owner of Kindersley Bowl. Its aim was to bring more fun and excitement to the bowling center, while also offering cash prizes for every team in the leagues.

Beginning in October, the league was divided into an Eastern Conference (Tuesday nights) and a Western Conference (Wednesday Nights), with eight teams in each, totaling 16 teams ultimately vying for the Stanley Bowl Trophy and cash prizes. (Each conference comprised two divisions, with four teams in each division.)

The first round of the playoffs featured matchups between the 1st and 8th places, 2nd and 7th, 3rd and 6th, and 4th and 5th in each league. This round eliminated eight teams and advanced eight teams to the second round. In the second round, the top four teams from each league faced off in the division finals. Two teams from both the Eastern and Western Conference advanced to compete to become conference champions and to meet in the Stanley Bowl Final.

The cash payouts were structured so that every team won cash. When a team was eliminated, they received a payout. The winning team then had the opportunity to win more in the next round. This year’s playoff format introduced matches like 1st vs 8th, 2nd vs 7th, etc., maintaining three rounds before determining the final two teams.

Ultimately, the final two teams were crowned last night. The runners-up who took home $750 was Team BB consisting of bowlers: Gregg Gordon, Derrick Ching, Rob Cote, Ashley Bower, Candy Gordon, Brandie Cote. And this year’s champions, who received $1200, were Team Heads in Gutter consisting of Jason Radies, Mark Tricel, Mark Nargang, Tyler Noble, Dean Sarrosin.

With over $6,000 in prize money and rising, bowlers eagerly anticipate the 2024-2025 Season. This year’s prize fund is the highest ever and is expected to increase next year. Congratulations to the Champions!
