Moe Hints at Affordability Measures Ahead of Throne Speech
The growing concern over the rising cost of living in our province remains a key issue for residents, and it’s one that the provincial government is gearing up to tackle in the near future.
After a dedicated week spent exclusively on passing the Parents’ Bill of Rights, the Saskatchewan Legislature is now shifting its focus.
“We have the speech from the throne coming up,” Premier Scott Moe told reporters at a press conference late last week. “I would say stay tuned with respect to what people should be looking for but we understand there’s affordability concerns at the family level.”
Steps to address the mounting cost of living have taken center stage, with housing assistance emerging as a potential solution, as per Premier Moe’s recent remarks.
These developments come in response to a newly released Insightrix poll that highlights inflation and increasing expenses as the primary worries of Saskatchewan residents.
Meanwhile, the Saskatchewan NDP has been consistently advocating for more government attention on this issue. As Sask. NDP Leader Carla Beck emphasizes, “The number one concern in the province is and continues to be the cost of living.”
Though Premier Moe has pledged changes, it’s worth noting that certain measures may need to await approval in the upcoming spring’s provincial budget.
