Hurry, Hard! Join the Kindersley Curling Club Today!
It’s that time of year again, and the Kindersley Curling Club is ready to welcome new and familiar faces for another season!
Leagues kick off on November 9th with Men’s league Monday nights at 7 p.m. “We also offer a Junior Curling Program for youth ages eight and up. This has been running for the past two years and we are fortunate to have a good core group, but we welcome any youth to join,” says Sharon Haubrich, program coordinator.
Full and half 
memberships are available and with six sheets of ice, there is plenty of room in all their leagues for new teams. The sheets of ice are also available for rent by small groups, along with the spacious lounge area.
While the rules of play are slightly different this year due to social distancing requirements, curling still offers a fun and safe experience for both seasoned and new participants. In fact, for those who are interested in learning how to curl, try adaptive equipment, or just wanting to brush up on their skills, sessions will be offered based on interest. “Participants will be able to build both their skills and knowledge about the game of curling at the same time. Our Curling Club was lucky to be chosen as a pilot project here in Saskatchewan last year to start the Adult Learn to Curl Program. We had some great help from Curl Saskatchewan, and several of our members stepped up to assist in teaching. The graduates finished in time to participate in our final bonspiel, and even win a prize in one of the events,” says Haubrich.
The league also hosts an annual fundraising project, and this time around have decided to do something a little different. This year they are running a “Buy a Light” campaign, where people can donate towards the purchase of replacement lighting for the facility. Donors will receive a tax receipt for donations of $25 or more.
