Derek Dorsett Joins Medicine Hat Tigers as Assistant Coach

Medicine Hat Tigers history was revisited on Friday, April 2nd, as former Tiger Derek Dorsett made his first appearance behind the bench as the team’s newest assistant coach.

Dorsett, spent three seasons with the Medicine Hat Tigers (2004-07) before going pro. His career consisted of 515 NHL games with the Columbus Blue Jackets, New York Rangers and Vancouver Canucks, before a neck injury forced him into retirement.

Brought in to help coach for the remainder of the shortened WHL season, his presence has been welcomed.

“The gritty former forward is a welcomed addition,” said Head Coach, Willie Desjardins via twitter.
