Artistic Swimming Camp Coming to Kindersley

By Mallorie Rast

On September 13th, swimmers ages 7 and up will have the opportunity to take part in an artistic swimming camp from 1 – 3:30 p.m. at the Kindersley Aquatic Centre.

Artistic swimming has been described as “dancing in the water.” Swimmers perform a number of routines to music, thus combining artistry and athletic ability into one beautiful blend.

The camp is hosted by the Kindersley Aquatic Centre in conjunction with Saskatchewan Artistic Swimming, an organization that is dedicated to developing swimmers from an individual with a hometown flare to a high-performing athlete. Saskatoon’s own Sydney Carroll is an athlete with Saskatchewan Artistic Swimming and is now pursuing her Olympic goals after placing 4th in the UANA World Virtual Artistic Swimming Challenge in the Junior category.

September 13th’s camp is geared towards generating interest in addition to giving a low-pressure opportunity to swimmers ages 7 and up to try their hand at the sport.

The cost is $20/participant, and swimmers can register online through the Kindersley Aquatic Web link on the Town of Kindersley website.
