Kerrobert’s Fall Market Is Coming October 24th!

This year, on October 24th Staci Hall and 18 vendors, both past favorites and new faces, will be showcasing their good at Kerrobert’s Prairieland Community Centre.

From 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. the public can visit the booths, where items range from jewelry, active wear, chocolates, knitted items, beauty goods, to Tupperware and home decor items (and much more!).

Of course, COVID has caused Hall to come up with a new layout for the market since there is now a need to space out the vendor booths in order to comply with government regulations. “It’s been a bit of a task trying to figure out how tables will have to go to keep with the spacing and traffic guidelines set up by the government. I try to avoid stairs at all costs but in order to make this work, I’ve had to utilize the stage into my sales route.” Hall has also had to limit the number of vendors at this market, “I have a total of 18 vendors for this market which is a huge change for me as typically, I have twice this many.

In addition to a new layout, dine-in seating at the market has also been removed, but to-go meals will be offered. “This allows me extra room for vendors and allows traffic to flow. Cucina ni Flora formerly known as Homestyle Spring Rolls will be running a food booth and operating her table. Flora has been a part of all my past markets and I am so happy she was able to make this commitment for me. Flora owns and operates a food truck in Biggar so she is no stranger to this type of setup,” says Hall.

Hall is no stranger to markets, and over the years has had great success. “This is my 4th time doing a market but my first one this year. I was supposed to have one this spring but it was postponed until now. I like to run three a year in the spring, fall and Christmas seasons. The markets are typically free to attend, and if there is a charge it’s usually a silver dollar collection. Last fall our local teen group took a collection to go towards their activities. At the Christmas market, I took donations at the door and was able to donate a large sum to both the West Central Crisis Center and Saskatchewan Mental Health.”

While COVID has currently created a few obstacles for Hall, that hasn’t stopped her from making plans for the future. “I hope to one day work my way up to a much larger event at the rink in the springtime that would mix local and home-based businesses and crafters all under one roof. Unfortunately, my goal for this has been pushed back at least another year as it is hard to do and be successful with all the restrictions.”
