Brooke Boisvert Participating in TeleMiracle 48
Brooke Boisvert, a 13-year-old dancer and grade 7 student at Elizabeth Middle School, is preparing to perform on the TeleMiracle stage, Saskatchewan’s annual telethon that raises funds to help local residents in need.
Dancing since she was three, Brooke trains at Premier Dance in Kindersley. Her performance this year, a lyrical dance to Joni Mitchell’s “Both Sides Now” which is choreographed by Tiffany Wagner, is part of her contribution to TeleMiracle. Brooke has also successfully reached her fundraising goal of $2,500 and will represent the fundraising achievements of all three schools in Kindersley during her segment on the live broadcast.
“I wanted to fundraise for TeleMiracle to help people in our province,” said Brooke. “I am excited to be able to do something I love and raise money for a great cause at the same time.”
This year, TeleMiracle runs from February 24th to 25th, in Regina, and since it began in 1977, has raised over $159 million. The money raised throughout the year and during the TeleMiracle telethon benefits the Kinsmen Foundation. They provide funding to the people of Saskatchewan requiring special needs equipment; as well as, travel assistance to those needing to leave their community, to access life-saving medical treatment. Funding is also provided to institutions and health foundations to purchase specialized, new or innovating equipment to improve health care.
