Kindersley RCMP Lay Firearms Charges After Search Warrants Executed

On May 7, 2021, Saskatchewan RCMP officers conducted three search warrants, two in the Town of Kindersley and one in the Town of Eatonia.

As a results of these searches, officers seized two long-barrelled firearms and one sawed-off firearm from a business in Kindersley and one sawed-off firearm with ammunition and one loaded firearm from a residence in Eatonia. None of the firearms was legally possessed.

“These firearms were not legally registered and were not being stored in a safe manner,” says S/Sgt. Kevin Peterson, Kindersley RCMP Detachment Commander. “Taking illegal firearms off the streets furthers our goal of making our communities safer.”

The following individuals were charged in relation to these searches:

Justin Williment (DOB: 1991-06-26) from Eatonia:

• 1 count, Insecure storage of a non-restricted firearm, Section 86(2), Criminal Code

• 1 count, Insecure storage of a prohibited firearm, Section 86(2), Criminal Code

• 1 count, Unauthorized possession of a prohibited firearm, Section 91(1), Criminal Code

• 1 count, Unauthorized possession of a non-restricted firearm, Section 91(1), Criminal Code

• 1 count, Possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition, Section 95, Criminal Code

• 1 count, Possession of a firearm with tampered serial number, Section 108, Criminal Code

 

Erin Mitchell (DOB: 1990-10-13) from Eatonia:

• 1 count, Insecure storage of a non-restricted firearm, Section 86(2), Criminal Code

• 1 count, Insecure storage of a prohibited firearm, Section 86(2), Criminal Code

• 1 count, Unauthorized possession of a prohibited firearm, Section 91(1), Criminal Code

• 1 count, Unauthorized possession of a non-restricted firearm, Section 91(1), Criminal Code

• 1 count, Possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition, Section 95, Criminal Code

• 1 count, Possession of a firearm with tampered serial number, Section 108, Criminal Code

 

Dwight Park (DOB: 1993-11-04) from Kindersley:

• 1 count, Insecure storage of a non-restricted firearm, Section 86(2), Criminal Code

• 1 count, Insecure storage of a prohibited firearm, Section 86(2), Criminal Code

• 1 count, Unauthorized possession of a prohibited firearm, Section 92(1), Criminal Code

• 1 count, Unauthorized possession of a non-restricted firearm, Section 92(1), Criminal Code

• 1 count, Possession of a firearm while under a prohibition order, Section 117.01(1), Criminal Code

 

Matthew Peters (DOB:1992-09-28) from Kindersley:

• 1 count, Insecure storage of a non-restricted firearm, Section 86(2), Criminal Code

• 1 count, Insecure storage of a prohibited firearm, Section 86(2), Criminal Code

• 1 count, Unauthorized possession of a prohibited firearm, Section 91(1), Criminal Code

 

The four individuals will make a court appearance on July 20, 2021 in Kindersley.

In addition to the search warrants Kindersley RCMP responded to a further 40 calls for service during the week of May 3rd to May 9th.
