Local Businesses Reminded of Programs Due to COVID Challenges

This week, businesses both small and large are reminded of several programs that are offered through the Government of Saskatchewan or by local banks and credit unions.
One program, SSBEP, (Saskatchewan Small Business Emergency Payment) is geared towards small and medium businesses directly affected by provincial public health orders to help contain the transmission of COVID-19. This program can provide up to $5,000 for each eligibility period.
Tourism businesses can receive support during this time through the Saskatchewan Tourism Support Program (STSSP). Two streams that can benefit from this program include:
1) accommodations and major event facilities; and 2) event, attractions or tour sector businesses.
A short term program aimed for employers to provide COVID adjustment training to their employees is called RSTS (Re-Open Saskatchewan Training Subsidy Program). Another program focuses on the employee as a wage subsidy, called the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy (CEWS).
Another large program is MEEP, otherwise known as the Municipal Economic Enhancement Program, supports investments in infrastructure, economic recovery and encourages local job creation.
Livestock businesses and farmers are not forgotten as the Western Livestock Price Insurance Program (WLPIP) is aimed to offset higher insurance premiums and also to offer compensation for enrollment in the national AgriRecovery set-aside program.
