After nearly a year of considering drawings, making plans, and other various options, the Town Council of Kindersley motioned on Monday to publish a tender for the construction of a new Fire Hall for the Kindersley Fire Department.

In the regular town council meeting of May 14, with many of the members of the fire department present, Deputy Mayor Shaun Henry read the council’s resolution to publish a request for tender for construction for the new hall.

The site chosen for the new fire hall is 111 Railway Avenue East, just west of the Peavey Mart store. Councillor Dean Galbraith explained that the town EMO, Bernie Morton, and Fire Chief Ron Hope were both deeply involved in the choosing of the current design.

The conceptual drawing allows ample room for current fire equipment and the addition of future trucks when they are needed. The design also gave extra indoor room that could be used for educational or training purposes.

“It is an exciting development,” Councillor Galbraith concluded, “and I am looking forward to following this project through to satisfactory completion.”
