Nipawin Bridge Closed Due to Rapidly Deteriorating Conditions

After a recent inspection, the old Highway 35 Bridge in Nipawin will be closing to all traffic due to rapidly deteriorating conditions.

The closure comes in to effect the morning of June 16th, and there is no indication whether the closure is permanent. However, the train portion is fine and will remain in use.

Built in 1931, the bridge is a unique landmark, with tracks for trains on top and a ‘crooked’ portion under the tracks that allow one-way traffic to pass. The traffic direction is controlled with a light.
