It is with saddened hearts that the family of Donna Margaret Ternes announce her passing on Mother’s Day, May 10, 2020 at the age of 82.

Donna was born February 18, 1938 in Elkhorn, Manitoba. At a very young age she moved to the Hoosier area and was raised on the Peyton homestead. Donna had a love for animals, especially her horse Flicka and her dogs Klinker, Sis, Misty and Middy. She enjoyed riding horses and went to every rodeo in the area as a child and would ride a calf to open the rodeo for the day. She could always be found working at rodeos at Alsask, Loverna and Luseland. She received her grade 10 certificate at the Hoosier consolidated School and then went off to Saskatoon Business College where she studied the Secretarial Course. As a mature student she obtained her Special Care Aide Certificate in 1984.

On May 2, 1959 she married Mike Ternes and together they had 5 children. Donna loved her children more than anything and became involved in whatever they were doing. She was a member of 4-H for 24 years, and was a leader for 15 of those years. After moving to Kerrobert, Mike passed suddenly in 1982 leaving her to raise her youngest son Darwin. Continuing to keep busy, she ensured that she was involved in whatever Darwin was doing. She could be found often at the ball diamonds or the bowling alley keeping score and cheering on the team, the basketball court, the volleyball court or wherever Darwin was. She also was a Scout Leader for 6 years.

Donna was never one to be idle and was known as a very hard worker. She worked for Imperial Oil at Smiley, various restaurants as a waitress and then at Heritage Manor in Kindersley as a Special Care Aide. When she retired, she worked at Home Hardware in Kindersley for several years. Once she “really” retired, she could be found volunteering at the Kindersley Museum and working behind the scenes running the Old Time Dance Club in Kindersley. Donna had many interests outside of work and almost every weekend she would pick up her friends and go to Old Time Dances near and far. She was known for her dancing abilities and at any family wedding she could get all the kids and grandkids up to do the Macarena, like only she could do!! Going for coffee at the mall, Dairy Queen or Tim Hortons was where she loved to be to visit with her many friends.

For Donna her family meant everything to her. She enjoyed family camping trips and family dinners whenever the kids were able to get together. A perfect day for her would be to have all of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren all by her side. She leaves behind her children Darrell (Vonda), Keith (Nancy), Alvin (Dale), Carol (Bob), Darwin (Sheena); her grandchildren Elise (Ryan) Antoni, Darcy Leonard (Kim), Karalyn Ternes (Shayne), Curtis Leonard (Jennifer), Crystal Ternes (Denley), Jaret Ternes, Courtney Ternes (Derrick), Sydni, Skyler and Dayne Ternes; great grandchildren Mikaila, Marissa and Hunter Leonard, Sadie Antoni, Kacey Neudorf. She also leaves to mourn her sisters Marion Thompson and Irene Peyton as well as several nieces and nephews and their families.
