SaskPower Increases Funding for Farmyard Line Relocation Program

SaskPower has more than doubled the funding towards the Farmyard Line Relocation Program in order to better serve farmers.

Funding has increased from $2 million to $5 million for the subsidized service–which is roughly enough financing for about 300 projects.

Under the program, SaskPower contributes 75 percent of the cost to move power lines or put them underground. Farmers pay a maximum of $2,000.

Approved applications will be carried out on a first-come, first-paid, first-served basis. Currently, there is still room on the list, but landowners should note the program is eligible for farmyards and is not open to power lines in fields.

The program works to both bury and move power lines that hang low, therefore reducing or eliminating the risk and inconvenience of working around overhead power lines in farmyards.

You can find more information about the program on the SaskPower website.
