Severe thunderstorm watch in effect for R.M. of Kindersley, including Kindersley Brock and Flaxcombe, R.M. of Oakdale including Coleville, R.M. of Progress including Kerrobert and Luseland, R.M. of Chesterfield including Eatonia and Mantario and R.M. of Snipe Lake including Eston and Plato

Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Kindersley and area.

According to the watch, conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms this afternoon that may be capable of producing intense lighting, large hail, strong winds and heavy rain.

A cold front approaching from Alberta is expected to trigger several thunderstorms throughout much of southern and western Saskatchewan. Some of these have the risk of developing into severe thunderstorms with large hail and strong winds with intense lightning. There is also risk of an isolated tornado.

Please be advised to be on the lookout for adverse weather conditions and take the the necessary safety precautions.

Large hail has potential to damage property and cause injury while gusty winds can toss debris or break trees. Take proper safety measures with lightning. Remember, sever thunderstorms can produce tornadoes.
