It’s the Kimmer Cup!

As the 2023 version of the Kindersley Klippers training camp wound down, both the head coach Clayton Jardine and assistant coach Tyler Traptow have their work cut out for them; finalizing the roster with the players they feel will give them the most success this upcoming season.

Training camp ended on a high note with the playing and awarding of the Kimmer Cup on Sunday, Sept. 3rd at the West Central Events Centre. The 36 players were divided into 2 squads and Team Green beat Team White by a score of 8 – 3. All the players put out their best efforts and so comes the coaches dilemma. For those who don’t know, the Kimmer Cup is played in honour of Kim (Kimmer) Leonard, who has been around the team in various capacities for many years. Kimmer retired this year from his duties working at the WCEC and now will take part as a fan of the team!

The Klippers have an exhibition road game this Friday, Sept. 8 in Humboldt against the Broncos and then both teams come back here for a rematch on Friday the 9th at 7:30.

Don’t forget to come out and support the team this season as the hometown heroes open the 2023-24 season at home against the Battleford North Stars on Goose Festival weekend.
