Surge in Agriculture Catalyst for Province’s GDP Lead


The most recent Gross Domestic Product (GDP) figures for Canada highlight Saskatchewan as the leading province in the country in terms of GDP growth. According to Statistics Canada, Saskatchewan experienced a notable 6.0 percent increase from 2021 to 2022, securing the top position among provinces and territories. The province’s 2022 GDP reached a total of $76.7 billion.

The primary catalyst for this economic expansion is a substantial 45.6 percent surge in the agriculture sector. Additionally, key industries contributing to Saskatchewan’s growth include mining, oil and gas extraction, accommodation and food services, construction, and manufacturing.
