Looking for signs of hope with five slumping Blue Jays hitters

Twenty-ninth in batting average. Twenty-ninth in on-base percentage.

Twenty-seventh in park-adjusted offence. Twenty-eighth in runs scored per game. The Toronto Blue Jays‘ offence has been a tire fire to start the 2019 season.

A few Jays get a pass for those early struggles. The four regulars saved from scrutiny are Randal Grichuk, Justin Smoak, Rowdy Tellez and Freddy Galvis, all of whom rate as roughly league-average or better by advanced, park-adjusted metrics (with Grichuk’s power numbers somewhat making up for his sub-.200 batting average).
