I really enjoy using my art for charity.
I have donated my pieces to a few different charities in the area for Silent or live auctions. There is so many great causes in the area. My most recent donation went to the Enbridge Courtroom Gallery in Kerrobert Saskatchewan on March 10th. This is an organization that means a lot to me. It was here that I showed my paintings the first time in a public forum. Its where I joined my daughter in displaying photography for the first time. Never have I met such a encouraging and helpful group of very wonderful people. They do a wonderful job of gathering artists from all over the region to support and promote arts in the area. They also host an under 30 art show annually to get the younger generation comfortable with showing their work and encouraging their skills.
I was very happy to support the fundraiser for the much needed renovations to the Gallery. The night featured live entertainment, food, wine as well as Live and Silent auction items. This is the first time I have been in attendance to an auction in which I have a piece of artwork on the block. I have to tell you it was nerve wracking. Well if I’m going to be honest absolutely terrifying. Good thing there was wine and great food to keep me calm. When my piece came up for bidding I was the artist in the back of the room trying to look all calm and cool casually sipping a glass of wine but my knees were bouncing up and down and my stomach doing flip flops and I was paying way too much attention to the absolutely delicious bread and dip. Luckily my painting sold and for a good price so I could breathe and enjoy the rest of the evening
The evening was very successful with a great turnout. The group raised around $2500 to go towards lighting for the gallery. I was very happy to be a part of it all.
Below is the piece I donated. It is acrylics on a 17×20 Gallery wrapped Canvas titled “Strings”.
