UPDATE: Oil Battery Fire North East of Kindersley

August 4th Update- Damage to the facility was minimal and the Kindersley Full Service Terminal reopened last night at 9:15pm.

August 3 – At 2:30 a.m. a lightning strike caused a fire on one of the oil tanks at SECURE Energy Services’s Full Service Terminal North East of Kindersley. Two workers onsite shut down the facility and mustered safely nearby. We understand that no injuries are reported. Dodsland Fire was dispatched and at 3:21 a.m. Kindersley Fire was requested as Mutual Aid by Dodsland Fire. The fire on the two-thousand barrel oil storage tank was extinguished at 4:53 a.m. Crews removed from site at 5:12 a.m. At 5:32 a.m. crews entered site to reassess and Kindersley Fire used thermal imaging equipment to make sure no more internal fires were burning inside the adjacent oil tanks. All units cleared scene at 5:42 a.m.

Additional information from SECURE Energy Services Inc. will be available at 12:00 p.m. today.
