CANDIDATES FOR MUNICIPAL COUNCIL
NOMINATIONS CLOSE THIS WEDNESDAY AT 4pm
The nominations for candidates for this fall’s municipal election closes this Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at 4:00 pm.
Completed nomination forms must be submitted to the Town Office, located at 106 – 5th Avenue East, by no later than 4:00pm this Wednesday in order for candidates to be eligible to seek a seat on the 7 person Town Council for the term 2016-2020 (1 Mayor, 6 Councillors).
Who Can Run?
If you would like to run as a candidate in the municipal election, you must meet the following criteria:
*Be at least 18 years of age on Election Day;
*Be a Canadian citizen;
*Have resided in the town of Kindersley for at least three consecutive months immediately preceding the date nomination paper is submitted; and
*Have resided in Saskatchewan for at least six consecutive months immediately preceding the date nomination paper is submitted.
Completed nomination papers for the Town of Kindersley Council must be signed by at least five voters of the municipality, and include a police record check that can be obtained at the local RCMP detachment.
As of the time of publishing this release, 2 persons have been nominated for the office of the Mayor, and 6 persons have been nominated for the office of Councillor. Nominations can be viewed online at www.Kindersley.ca
