Dakota Buttar To Ride in Saskatoon on PBR Monster Energy Canada Tour

Kindersley native Dakota Buttar will be bull-riding in Saskatoon as part of the PBR Monster Energy Canada Tour.

The event is taking place at the SaskTel Centre in Saskatoon this Friday and Saturday, and begins at 7:30 PM.

The two-night tour stop is a world-qualifier, and three Saskatchewan riders have made it to the top five in Canada. PBR Rider Dakota Buttar is one of these three. Buttar, a hardened veteran at the sport, says he will “take it like any other bull-riding.”

Growing up, Buttar says he felt fairly unique in his passion for bull-riding, in a town where most kids played hockey. He enjoyed rodeo activities and was exposed to them from a young age, with his father being a skilled bull-rider himself and his sister competing in barrel-racing. Buttar began his first year of bull-riding at age 8, and rode his first open bull at age 14.

Dakota encourages young aspiring bull-riders to stick to their dreams, regardless of the difficulty. “Don’t get discouraged when things are going bad,” he says.

The points leader from this event will move on to the BlueDEF Finals at South Point Arena in Las Vegas on October 29-31.  From there, the BlueDEF Tour Champion, the event winner, top three finishers and the top international finisher will head to the brand new T-Mobile Arena for the Built Ford Tough World Finals, which will run from November 2- 6.
