Two months ago, there was a public meeting with those interested in creating “Coleman Park”.
My understanding is that this has been an ongoing process for almost 30 years to do something with the area proposed today for the park. The area is a green space as there is a major gas line underneath that doesn’t allow construction over top of it. The community working group has done a terrific job of inclusion of the neighbors young and old while also creating a town space that everyone can use. Most of you will have seen a brochure in the mail in the last couple weeks depicting what the palns are for those unable to attend the public session. Residents will notice that the gas line runs from the proposed park area and north of Caleb Village and into Brookhollow Estates where another park is planned once the area sees more development. The group has held monthly meetings to date to sort through some of the comments and concerns and have really thought this through.
On the west end of town, there has also been some movement with the Friends of Kinsmen Park. A recent barbeque in late June saw over $3,000 raised to improve that area as well. A large focus with that group is to update the building and rink on site as well as update some of the playground equipment.
With a couple successful grants and personal contributions we will hopefully be able to make some further progress this Fall with more of the work that needs to be done coming next Spring. A little time and dedication goes along ways to improving the parks in our area.
Keep up the great work to both groups and a big Kudos to both for their time and commitment to improving our green spaces in the community!
