Despite the chilly winter weather still clutching Saskatchewan in its grip, the Government of Saskatchewan is already preparing for the rush of campsite bookings for 2018.
“Saskatchewan’s provincial parks offer outdoor fun and relaxation,” said Parks, Culture and Sport Minister Gene Makowsky in a press release. “These provincial treasures contribute to the enviable quality of life we enjoy while preserving that same gift for future generations.”
Along with releasing the dates of their staggered bookings, the government as also opened up bids for seasonal sites, deadline Thursday, February 1. The highly popular seasonal sites are in such high demand that they will be chosen via a lottery system, but the campers who hanker after those sites don’t mind gambling a little on their 2018 location. Successful applicants will be notified by phone or email.
April will mark another rush of bookings as the 9th of April will kick off a 12-day registration period for the following grounds:
- Blackstrap, Pike Lake—April 9
- Buffalo Pond, Douglas, Danielson—April 10
- Echo Valley, Rowan’s Ravine—April 11
- Duck Mountain, Good Spirit Lake, Greenwater Lake—April 12
- Crooked Lake, Moose Mountain—April 15
- Cypress Hill—April 16
- Saskatchewan Landing, The Battlefords—April 17
- Meadow Lake—April 18
- Bronson Forest, Lac La Ronge, Makwa Lake—April 19
- Candle Lake, Great Blue Heron, Narrow Hills—April 20
