The Vancouver Canucks assigned rookie forward Jake Virtanen to AHL Utica on Tuesday on a conditioning stint.
The 19-year-old has missed four games due to injury. In 19 games this season with the Canucks, Virtanen has one goal and three assists.

TSN Hockey Insider Bob McKenzie says that the Canucks’ plan is to have Virtanen get into two practices and two games with the Comets through the weekend.
After that, McKenzie says that Virtanen could return to the Canucks or possibly be loaned to the Canadian junior team.
Virtanen was on last year’s gold medal-winning squad and contributed one goal and three assists in seven games.
