Checkstop Initiatives Planned Throughout Holidays to Keep Roads Safe
Over the weekend of December 15th, 2017 to December 17th, 2017 Saskatoon Police Service Combined Central Traffic Services were out in Kindersley and surrounding area conducting traffic stops. A total of 51 traffic offence tickets were handed out.
Some of the traffic offences included:
– 9 tickets were handed out to drivers within the Town of Kindersley for hold, view, use or manipulate electronic communications equipment while driving a motor vehicle on a highway Section 241.1(2) TSA. $280 fine.
– 10 tickets were handed out to drivers within the Town of Kindersley for failing to wear seat belt assembly and/or fail to wear a seat belt assembly properly Section 248(1) TSA. $175 Fine.
– 23 speeding tickets were handed out on Highway 7 from Alsask to D’arcy. One driver was stopped travelling 142km/hr on Highway 7, going 42 km over the speed limit. The fine for this offence was $368.
A check stop was also conducted on Highway 7 near Flaxcombe, just over 100 vehicles were stopped. No alcohol related charges were given.
Sobriety checkstops are just one of the initiatives police across the province have planned to keep roads safe during the holiday season.
