After gaining the upper-hand over the Hague Royals in last Sunday’s home game, the Red Lions didn’t fare so well in this Sunday’s away game.
“We had a short bench,” commented Coach Curtis Graham, “and Hague’s ice certainly wasn’t in our favor.”
After fighting their way through sketchy road conditions on Sunday, the Red Lions found themselves on a smaller rink, crowded with a large number of tough, opposing players.
“Their goalie was tough, very tough,” Coach Graham noted, “he didn’t let anything get past him.”
The Red Lions did manage to slip two pucks past the goalie but found the whole game an exhausting effort. Coach Graham says that the outcome of this last game gives them some ideas on how to approach their next one. “We’ve got a larger ice here in Kindersley, and that will allow our guys to use their speed, not just brute force.”
Friday’s match-up is again with the Hague Royals; with each team holding a win and a loss, this next game will decide who will carry on in the Playoffs.
Faced with this ‘win, or go home’ game, the Red Lions are determined to make this round a win. Come on down to the WECE on Friday at 8:30 p.m. to cheer them on!
