Basketball interest has grown in Kindersley, and with it, teams of talented, determined KCS students who have made their hometown proud.
Over the last several weeks teams of KCS girls and boys have each brought home the championship title.
The KCS first hosted a boys basketball tournament on the January 12-13 weekend and then a girls on the weekend of January 19-20. In each tournament, KCS hosted up to six teams.
During the boys’ tournament weekend, there were so many players in the KCS Cobra team, that the team was split into Cobra Black and Cobra White to ensure everyone had enough playing time. The weekend ended with Cobra Black taking several wins, including over Cobra White and later the Davidson team in order to take the championship.
The KCS girls’ team hosted Elizabeth School, Outlook, Kerrobert, Rosetown, and Luseland teams for an active and varied weekend. Many of these teams met throughout this season, so there were few surprises and more than a little excitement as each team competed for the championship title. By the end of the weekend, the KCS girls team carried the day, and are looking forward to future championships with confidence.
Junior Basketball will continue through February with playoffs beginning in March; the season will end at the end of that month.
