Just this morning, Kindersley-resident Kim Mah was announced as the CAA celebrate 100 years $100,000 Member Prize winner. According to the CAA press release, Mah will be in receipt of $50,000 and $50,000 will then be donated in her honor to Saskatchewan-based community organizations of her choice.

According to the CAA press announcement, every CAA Saskatchewan member that was active as of December 15, 2017, was automatically entered for the draw. Mah, a 21-year CAA member, was eligible for this prize for being an “active and primary member of CAA Saskatchewan”.

Fred Titanich, President and CEO for CAA, presented Mah the winning cheque. “Congratulations Kim and thank you for your membership. We know you will enjoy spending the $50,000 value in CAA dollars. Our knowledgeable and professional travel consultants are ready to help you with all your travel plans, bon voyage!”

Mah directed the other $50,000 to three organizations in Kindersley, the Kindersley Library Board ($15,000), West Central Abilities Inc. ($20,000), and The Kindersley and District Food Bank ($15,000). Titanich noted that these donations are made in honor of CAA’s “history in the province and recognize the club’s growth as Saskatchewan’s automobile association of choice.”

Marilyn Shea, librarian at the Kindersley Branch of Wheatland Regional Library, said on behalf of the Kindersley Board that she was excited and pleased to hear of the donation. “Kim has always been a very strong supporter of the library. I am very happy for her.”  Shea is not a liberty to vouch for how the funds will be used but expects a decision from the board soon.

Kim Edmunds, Director of West Central Abilities (WCA)said it was a “pleasant and wonderful surprise for everyone at WCA”. Edmunds went on to explain that the WCA is taking on a major project of a much needed new modern centre for their programs. “We are aiming to build the centre in a safe and accessible location within the core of our community. Kim’s proceeds will help to open the door to a greater future for individuals in our community who are experiencing a disability. Thank you very, very much to Kim and CAA!”

Linda Resch, President of the Kindersley and District Food Bank, said she was so excited to hear about Kim’s win that she was at first confused as to why CAA was contacting her. “When [CAA] started to explain why I was contacted I was so happy that Kim had picked the food bank as one of her choices. It will go a long way to feeding the needy in our area. We are so grateful for this contribution.”

CAA was first formed in 1917 when it united the 130 motor clubs that were in operation. The $100,000 prize celebrates 100 years of roadside assistance and repair, travel services and insurance by CAA Saskatchewan.
