Dogs are like people in many ways and have similar reactions to situations they encounter.
Unfortunately, they do not have the means to communicate clearly what they are experiencing.
Here are a few situations to be alerted to for your dog:
A. New surroundings with loud noises-keep your dog close to you so he can relax knowing you are there and the loud noises are nothing to fear
B. Situations with busy children or activities-keep your dog calm and in a place where he does not feel overwhelmed with all the “chaos” . Many dogs do not know how to relate to these times and may lash out with reactions such as barking, withdrawing or even biting. It may not be the dog’s fault-just a poor situation
C. Scenarios with other dogs who are pushy or aggressive-stay away from these situations as the dogs natural reaction may be either to retreat and therefore get hurt or go on the defensive and get into a fight. Either way-it sets up a very negative response to other dogs and can cause huge issues later.
