Arts & Crafts: Salt Dough Ornament DIY

Materials needed:

  • Salt
  • Flour
  • Mixing bowl
  • Rolling pin
  • Water
  • Measuring cups
  • Cookie Cutters
  • Wax Paper

Method:

 

1) Mix 1 cup of water with 1 cup salt in bowl.

2) Add ½ cup of room temperature water and mix thoroughly. I added a bit more water so it stuck

together better.

3) Once dough is mixed well, roll with rolling pin on top of wax paper.

4) Once you have rolled the dough out level, use cookie cutters to cut your desired shape. Make

sure to poke a whole all the way through the dough to put ribbon through later on.

5) Place cut out dough on microwavable plate and cook in microwave for 2 minutes to start. If the

dough is still soft, continue to cook in small increments (10-15 sec at a time) but monitor very

closely!!

6) When dough is cooked, let cool and then paint.

7) After the paint is dry place ribbon through ornament and hang on tree.

 

This recipe will make enough for approx 40 ornaments! The options for shapes and type of decorations

are endless.
