Anne of Green Gables is a Canadian classic that most of us have read or watched, but now Anne (with an e), her bosom buddy Diana, Matthew, and Marilla are taking a new form
Chris Clarke is the creator of Anne’s Lego house. He owns Brick Barn in Morell, P.E.I, which is a place where children and adults can come and create their own Lego masterpieces. Clarke also houses his own 350,000-piece Lego collection at Brick Barn.
Clarke and his wife designed and built the Anne of Green Gables model house and characters which took about 30 to 40 hours to design and used 1,800 pieces. Now finished Anne, her house, and friends are now being used as a centerpiece for the business.
However, it wasn’t until Clarke started receiving positive feedback for his creation, he wondered if Lego might be interested in turning the model house and characters into a set for consumers.
So Clarke registered with Lego’s Ideas website. Through the website Clarke submitted an online entry including a detailed description of the house and characters along with 23 images.
10,000 votes are needed before Lego’s board of set designers and marketing representatives will review the idea and decide whether to turn it into a product for consumers.
