Nearly one year since it was sworn in, the council continues to place a strong emphasis in growing Kindersley forward.
With a recent adoption of a new strategic plan, the council has set new goals to aid in future decisions.
According to the council meeting report, this new plan will “focus on three main objectives to guide decision-making on behalf of the Town of Kindersley: fostering strong relationships between Council, Administration, and the community, spending and managing money efficiently, and seeing major capital projects to completion.”
In a brightly illustrated print, the council outlined several of the key points under each of the three headings. Under “Building Bridges”, the points included making new partnerships and opening a dialogue with neighbouring townships and RMs. Lessening the tax burden, promoting a healthy business climate, and responsible management of citizens’ money were key points under the 2nd heading, “Smart Spending”.
The last, but certainly not the least heading, “Administration”, held the ominous duty of outlining several projects the council aims to guide to completion. These included the Indoor Aquatic Centre, the Regional LandFill, the Lagoon, and the Fire Hall projects.
“The new Strategic Plan represents well what this Council has set as priorities and what we have already been able to accomplish so far in this term.” Said Mayor Rod Perkins in a recent statement about the strategic plan. “We have a number of major projects in the works already that we want to see to completion. We want to lay the foundation for strong working relationships within Kindersley, our region, and other levels of government; and we want to manage our taxpayers’ money wisely with a solid plan for the future.”
