The new year has brought about change for the Town of Kindersley but Council remains focused on the priorities for growth and planning in 2016.
Mayor John Enns-Wind has announced that he will be unable to complete his term as mayor for the Town of Kindersley due to new employment elsewhere, and he will resign from his duties early this year. For details on the mayor’s announcement, visit johnenns-wind.ca/mayoral/being-mayor/.
“On behalf of Council, I want to thank Mayor Enns-Wind for his hard work, dedication, and the many long hours he has committed toward planning for our future and making Kindersley a better place to live. He truly went above and beyond what the job required of him to do his best for our community,” said Deputy Mayor Vaughn Biberdorf.
The Deputy Mayor said major projects and initiatives must continue to move ahead, such as construction of a new landfill and fire hall, application for city status, and planning for a new swimming pool, while Council’s priorities of open communication, financial transparency, strategic growth, reliable infrastructure, and organizational effectiveness remain unchanged.
“2016 will be a busy year and we are not slowing down in any way. There is still much to do.”
With the municipal election set by the Province for October 2016, a by-election is not required to fill the mayoral position. Mayor Enns-Wind will carry out some duties until February, after which time councillors will decide on how to best fill the various roles and tasks required for the rest of the Council term.
Mayor Enns-Wind was elected into office in October 2012.
