Damian Warner clings to 2nd in decathlon after morning session

Canadian is 115 points behind defending champion Ashton Eaton after 7 events

Defending Olympic champion Ashton Eaton of the United States extended his lead atop the decathlon standings to 115 points Thursday morning over Canada’s Damian Warner after seven of 10 events.

Eaton, who is married to Canadian heptathlete Brianne Theisen-Eaton, picked up 12 points on Warner in the discus — the final event of the morning — with a throw of 45.49 metres.
