Fire Risk Still Extreme for West Central Area
According to the fire risk map of Saskatchewan a large area of Saskatchewan has a high risk of fire with a large red swath of extreme risk cutting through the province.
Lack of precipitation over the recent months has proved perfect conditions for a wildfire.
Several RMs in the area have fire bans in place including RM of Kindersley, Oakdale, Chesterfield, Biggar and Perdue. The Town of Kindersley has also issued a fire ban.
There has been about 73 wildfires in the province this year so far, below the five-year average of 129.
Officials are urging extreme caution as the dry conditions continue. Be careful where you drive and what you do with machinery.
