Extreme cold descends on parts of Saskatchewan

Cold spot this morning was Key Lake: –43C

Saskatchewan people hoping for more mild weather got a wake-up call this morning.

Environment Canada issued extreme cold weather warnings for a number of communities in the north and east-central parts of the province.

The cold spot in the pre-dawn hours was Key Lake, where it dipped down to –43 C.

At 7 a.m. CST, it was around –30 in Prince Albert and about –20 in Regina.

In the north, with the wind factored in, it will feel like –45 in a number of communities, Environment Canada says.
