Fedak wins weight throw at Knights of Columbus Indoor Games

Reagan Fedak won the weight throw on Saturday as a small group of University of Regina track & field athletes travelled to Saskatoon for the Knights of Columbus Indoor Games.

A rookie from Foam Lake, Fedak launched a throw 15.08 metres on her fifth attempt to secure the first-place finish in the event. For good measure, she matched that with another toss measured at 15.08 metres on her sixth and final attempt. Fedak is now ranked third in Canada West and 11th in the CIS in the weight throw.

Fedak and Brooke Shatkowski both had a pair of top-three finishes, as Fedak also placed third in the shot put with a top attempt of 11.45 metres. Shatkowski edged Fedak for second in the shot put (11.52m) while also registering a third-place finish in the weight throw (13.77m).

Faith Ogundipe was fourth for the Cougars in both the shot put (9.69m) and the weight throw (13.45m).

Rookie Quinn Legare led the small contingent of U of R athletes on the men’s side with a second-place finish in the 1000-metre run (2:42.41).

The Cougars will send a full squad to the Bison Classic next weekend in Winnipeg.
