Every month 850,000 Canadians are aided by food banks. Food bank use has increased by approximatley 25 per cent, with 26,820 Saskatchewan residents assisted by food banks as of March 2014, 45 per cent of them being children. The number of Canadian use of food banks is up 19 per cent from 2013 and nearly doubled from 2008 to 2014.
Kindersley as a whole donated 4,846.2 pounds of food, which included food as well as cash donations.
