Funnel Cloud Advisory in Effect for Kindersley and Area

Weather advisory in effect for R.M. of Kindersley, including Kindersley Brock and Flaxcombe, R.M. of Oakdale including Coleville, R.M. of Progress including Kerrobert and Luseland, R.M. of Chesterfield including Eatonia and Mantario and R.M. of Snipe Lake including Eston and Plato

Environment Canada released a weather advisory for Kindersley and area as conditions are favourable for the development of funnel clouds this afternoon.

Generated by weak rotation under rapidly growing clouds or a weak thunderstorm these types or funnel clouds are normally not a danger near the ground. However, Environment Canada warns that there is a chance the rotation could intensify and become a weak landspout tornado.

Typically landspout tornados do not cause significant damage but can still be dangerous. These tornados are strong enough to damage roofs, topple trees and toss debris.

Please be advised to treat any funnel cloud seriously. If a funnel cloud develops nearby take shelter. These funnel clouds usually appear with little or no warning.

Please continue to monitor weather alerts.
