How about a New Years Revolution?…

The end of 2015.  The start of a new year, new opportunities, new perspective and fresh starts.

This is the time time of year when we begin to reflect upon and review our year. I’m  certain there were many accomplishments, goals met and achievements that we’ve had throughout the year. We may have had a wonderful 2015. Unfortunately, for the majority of people, that’s not what we focus on. We begin to take stock of all our shortcomings, our setbacks, our perceived failures.

This is the time for resolutions. We resolve to….do better, eat better, work out more, spend less, save more, declutter, keep in contact with our love ones, stay off Facebook (but not until you’re done reading this article)….the lists of resolve go on and on. Even now as we add to this little list here, with the endless “to do” lists in our heads…

Resolutions are a great idea in theory, but resolutions rarely work. Statistics show that the average New Year’s resolution lasts less than 12 weeks. In addition, only 8% of New Year’s resolutions are actually achieved.

If these resolutions are so statistically low, why is it year after year that we scold ourselves and vow to “do better” next year – every year? Why do we do this to ourselves over and over again?

The definition of insanity is explained as  “doing the same thing over and over again but expecting a different result”.

This year let’s choose together to end the insanity.

This year, how about a Revolution? A love revolution!

This year let’s choose together simply to love ourselves more.

The incomparable Louise L. Hay,    a metaphysical teacher, author and internationally renowned speaker, introduced me to the concept of loving myself. Really, really loving myself no matter what. No matter how many mistakes I have made and no matter what perceived flaws I see when I look in the mirror. Just simply loving myself, and it changed everything for me. This is now the philosophy I live by and teach to others.

When we love ourselves, everything seems to effortlessly fall into place.   There is no struggle.

When we truly and fully love ourselves-  it does not become a chore to make choices that will  overall benefit ourselves. Choices such as: choosing healthy foods, nourishing our bodies, avoiding toxins, sleeping well, choosing to move our bodies in a way that feels good, being responsible for our finances, keeping  our homes and spaces clutter for free, spending more time with loved ones rather than attached to a screen, etc, etc.

When we really look within, we can discover our own power, inner wisdom and strength. We can get the blocks and the barriers out of the way so we can love ourselves, no matter what the circumstance, and make choices easily that benefit us.

When we really love ourselves, it is easier to fully love others. In that space we are able to be a catalyst to provide love, compassion, inspiration and strength to others and the love revolution continues….

In summary, let’s let go of the resolution… And let’s choose a revolution. Let’s choose to love ourselves this year. Let’s choose that 2016 is our most loving year yet.

Love & Light to you all…
