The Source for Sports Pee Wee Falcons took a break from league play this past weekend to play in a Medicine Hat 24 team tournament.

Things got underway Friday with an opening game against the Prairie Storm Thunder. The early morning and time change didn’t seem to affect the Falcons who got off to a quick 3 goal lead after the 1st period with goals from Rhett Dimitroff, Kayden Elliot and Brandon Miller. The balanced scoring continued in the second period with Jace Reichert, and Calvin Feader netting one each. The Prairie storm came to life in the 3rd period with 3 goals of their own but the Falcons held on for a 6-3 victory.

A few short hours later the Falcons took on a strong Blackfalds Bulldogs team who came out fast and scored just 30 seconds into the game. The scoring continued for the Bulldogs who eventually had a four goal lead heading into the 3rd period. The Falcons would break the shutout with 10 min left in the game with a goal by Josh Yaremovich, and The Falcons Goalie Keaton Cote kept the score respectable after facing nearly 40 shots. Final 5-1 Bulldogs.

With only one game Saturday the Falcons were well rested and ready to take on the host Medicine hat Hounds. It was a back and forth game with scoring chances at both ends. Jace Reichert got the scoring started for the Falcons with a Power play goal from the point, but the Hounds answered back to tie it up after one. Calvin Feader let a hard slap shot go from the blue line that went off the post and in for the Falcons second goal and Levi Krahn also put one in from the point as the defense led the scoring in an eventual close loss 5-4 to the Hounds.

The Falcons ended up in the C final on Sunday and lined up against the Canmore Eagles in what was expected to be a close game. The Eagles got on the board first with the only tally of the 1st period.  The falcons stepped up their play in the 2nd and got rewarded with a goal by Kearin Wagner off of a rebound in front of the net. Kayden Elliot played solid in net and Seth Klein would snipe the game winner in what was a hard fought defensive game. Falcons take the C side with a 2-1 victory.
