The Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure has a challenging opportunity for a highly motivated individual who is interested in a career as a Saskatchewan Highway Patrol Officer.  Your primary goal will be to protect the highway infrastructure and ensure the safety of all highway users by monitoring commercial vehicle compliance.  The Ministry is seeking to fill permanent positions in Langham, Melfort, Kindersley, Lloydminster, Meadow Lake, Swift Current, Estevan, Yorkton, and Moosomin.

In this position, you will enforce transportation legislation, policies and agreements for commercial and private vehicles traveling the provincial highway system.  You will be responsible for checking commercial vehicle operators for licensing, certification and insurance as well as inspecting commercial vehicles.  You will also conduct roadside inspections, issue charges, appear in court, conduct investigations, and prepare reports.  You will interact professionally with team members, other enforcement and government agencies, as well as the commercial transportation industry.

As a member of the Provincial Protection and Response Team, in order to ensure public safety, you will aid in the reduction of crime in Saskatchewan by responding to 911 calls when RCMP or Municipal Police agencies are not immediately available, or when you could provide the fastest first response.  You will take direct enforcement action during crimes in progress and will provide assistance and support to Police agencies as requested.
