The Iron Horse Kindersley Klippers ruled the scoreboard on Saturday’s game against the La Ronge Ice Wolves, gaining control of the ice until the game ended with a final score of 7-0.

“The guys are playing very hard, and being very consistent in their efforts,” said Coach Geoff Grimwood, noting that the hard work of the team is going to pay off. “It’s starting to make us pretty confident that we are going to get a favourable standing in the playoffs.”

Early into the first period of Saturday’s game, Cody Hodgson shot the first puck home; a few moments later, defenseman Tate Paige surprised everyone by scoring his first goal of the season. Carson Pickett rounded off the first period with yet another puck in the net for the Klippers, settling them at a neat 3-0.

Rolling into the second period, Paige yet again put the Klippers on the board with Jordan Funk and Josh Fletcher close behind him. It was Kyle Bosch who planted the final goal of the evening, leaving the La Ronge Ice Wolves licking their wounds at a sound 7-0.

Several team members received special recognition, including defenseman Tate Paige, who led the way with two goals and an assist; Josh Fletcher was hailed as a valuable player, also scoring one goal; and Justen Close’s 18 saves made this game his fifth shutout this season.

“Each of them are all in their rookie season with us,” said Coach Grimwood, “I’m excited to see where their next three seasons with us will find them.”

The Klippers will be back in action on Wednesday against yet another opponent, the Battlefords North Stars. What is different about this game is that it will be on the neutral ice of the Town of Unity. “We are looking forward to increasing the area of our team’s footprint,” stated Coach Grimwood, “Many of our guys haven’t played on this ice before, and I know many of the North Stars haven’t either.”   Coach Grimwood says it will be good experience for all who are involved.
