Running on a roll of at least 8 wins in a row; the Raiders are in top form for the league final games this week.
“So far we have been rolling at the right time this season,” noted Coach Clayton Artymovich. “It’s been an exciting season, and all the guys have been enthusiastic about playing ball.”
Last Monday the Raiders won a best-of-the-three match against the Rosetown Angels, a thrilling victory Kindersley has not seen in several years. In the past, the Rosetown Angels have won 5 out of the last 6 league titles, but this year, the Raiders definitely had their number.
“Our teams have been very well matched, and so it’s always a great game when we play the Rosetown Angels,” commented Coach Artymovich. “This year we were surprised to beat them in every game.”
Victorious, the Raiders turn their attention to the last games of the finals and find themselves face to face with their own community—the Kindersley Stallions.
The Stallions have proved themselves to be a mighty foe on the playing field, taking away all three games the Raiders have met them on. Coach Artymovich, however, says the team is not daunted. “In our games so far, our defense has been very sound, and our offense knows how to make things hot at the right time, so we are pretty confident we can make these next games very exciting.”
The head to head series with the Stallions will start on Monday, with a follow-up game on Wednesday, and on Monday, if needed. The winner of this series will claim league championship before reformulating for the provincials the week following.
The games of Monday and Wednesday will have a hefty draw of $1,000, sponsored by Kim Tuffs of Big Rack Vac. Attendees of the games will have the option to purchase 50/50 tickets throughout the games. Grab your hats and come on down to the diamonds to cheer your team on!
