T & T Travel Kindersley centre of Fraud Investigation

An RCMP investigation is underway after Mounties received more than 150 complaints of fraud against a Kindersley business in less than a week.

Mounties said in a media release Monday complaints against a business in the western Saskatchewan town began pouring in Jan. 21.

Details from police were scarce, but several people who claim to be victims of the alleged scam told CTV News the complaints involve T & T Travel.

Brian Klein said he and his son booked a $19,000 trip to Mexico for eight people through the agency. He said this past Wednesday he called the airline he thought the group was set to fly with only to find out their seats had not been booked. Their accommodations weren’t booked either.

The news was tough to take in, he said. “Shock. Completely shock and disbelief.”

The Kleins have since called and emailed T & T a number of times, but they’ve yet to receive a response.

A sign on the company’s door says the office will be closed for a few days, due to illness. “Sorry for the inconvenience,” the sign reads.

CTV News tried to contact the agency but was met with a voicemail noting the business is now closed.

“T & T Travel business is no longer operating as of Jan. 22, 2016,” the voicemail stated.

The Kleins started a Facebook page this week called “Travelers Taken By T & T.” The group already sits at more than 650 members.

Kinderlsey RCMP said the detachment is still receiving complaints — some via social media. Anyone who feels they are a victim of fraud should call or email the detachment, RCMP requested.

No charges have been laid at this point, according to police.
