Kindersley Residents Honored for “Canadian Character”

#Tasteofwhoweare

Four Kindersley residents were recently recognized by Molson Canadian for their sense of community, diligence in building bridges, and for breaking down barriers—in a nutshell, they displayed great Canadian character. This recognition came in the wake of a #Tasteofwhoweare campaign earlier this year in honor of Canada’s 150.

Nominated by other members of the community, Roxanne Atkinson, Cheryl Glass, Councillor Shaun Henry and Judy Lavoie were the proud recipients of engraved crates from Molson Canadian.

“It is my great honor and pleasure to present these crates to those who have displayed great Canadian Character,” said Jessica Maddocks, representative of Molson Canadian. She presented the crates to the recipients, noting that these four were a portion of the 1,500 crates presented all across Canada.

The recipients, recognized for the number of groups and committees that they were involved in, as well as for great Canadian characteristics such as optimism and commitment, said they were humbled to receive the recognition. “I feel like there isn’t too much different between me and hundreds of other volunteers I see in this community.” Glass’ modesty was reflected in the other recipients.

“As a volunteer and committee member, you don’t put time and effort into something just for the accolades,” said Henry. “You do it for the betterment of the community.”

Atkinson noted that volunteering isn’t a thankless job, and urged others to give their time and energy when an opportunity arises. “Next time you have a chance to volunteer—do it! Remember it will not go unnoticed.”
