Kindersley Stallions Begin Season

If the opening season and exhibition games of the Kindersley Stallions are any indication, the team will hit their 2018 season just as hard as their near-perfect season last year.

After three exhibition games, the Stallions opened the season with the Eatonia Wheat Kings on rodeo weekend Friday.  The Stallions carried the day with a 11-3 win, and look to do the same with their game on Tuesday, with Rosetown.

The Stallions were formed in 2017 when the Raiders Team grew too large to give everyone a fair chance at playing the game.  The brand-new team hit the 2017 season running, and emerged from the regular season completely undefeated.

After just barely losing to the Kindersley Raiders for the Fertile Valley Baseball League (FVBL) title, the Stallions joined forces with the Raiders for provincials and together the provincial team placed second overall.

Clearly, the Stallions were a strong team in 2017 and things are looking good for 2018.  “Many of the same players on the team right now,” says Austin Jamieson, Stallions player and manager. “We did lose one key player to the Oyen team since they joined the FVBL, but we also have several new young members join the team so we are confident looking ahead this season.”

Indeed, the FVBL has grown in 2018, so it includes 12 teams. Some of the new teams include the Kindersley Clubs, Oyen Eagles, and the Outlook River Hawks.

With more teams and more stops in the league, the Stallions will have a busy schedule ahead of them.  The following is the home schedule of the Stallions.

Stallions vs Angels – Tuesday, May 29

Stallions vs Breakers – Friday, June 8

Stallions vs Aces – Monday, June 11

Stallions vs Raiders – Thursday, June 14

Stallions vs Cabri – Monday, June 18
