Repair to the watermain leak at 11th Ave E and Ditson Drive was completed early last evening.
Water service has been fully restored to the two businesses impacted, and the Town of Kindersley has identified a few best practices to implement should a similar break occur in the future in order to lessen the build-up of water and ice on roads before repairs are complete.
The patience and cooperation of those impacted by the water disruption were greatly appreciated.
Linebreak Timeline:
February 4, 2016
A line break at the corner of Ditson Drive and Highway has caused some disruption at the intersection. Water could be seen flowing from the cement on Thursday.
The Town of Kindersley have released the following timeline:
February 4, 9:56 AM:
In order to fully close and repair the leak at 11th Ave E and Ditson, Public Works is preparing to hydrovac and repair a valve that was bent near the Energy Dodge. This is necessary to ensure that water can be properly diverted and to prevent water disruption to the area. Immediately following this, repairs will begin on the value where the original break occurred. There are gas lines running within close proximity to the water lines so daylight is necessary to complete this work.
RM of Kindersley line users have been put on a Precautionary Drinking Water Advisory and subscribers may see some discoloration in their water as the lines are flushed out. Water disruption is not expected to occur.
February 3, 4:55 PM:
We have concluded that repairs are possible without disruption to water service to the Kindersley Inn at this time. The hydrant valve has been shut off to reduce flow to the line. We are hoping to repair the break live but there may still be water disruption to the area.
February 3, 3:45 PM:
Due to a watermain break on the corner of 11th Ave and Ditson Dr, Kindersley Inn and McDonalds will be experiencing intermittent water disruptions until repaired. We are currently working to rectify the situation. A precautionary drinking water advisory is in effect. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience.
Stay tuned for updates.
